Mount Peter Announces Opening Weekend of the 2018-2019 Season

Mount Peter Opening for Season

Event marks 83 years of delivering wintertime fun

WARWICK, N.Y. (December 12, 2018) – As of December 15 and 16, it’s all downhill for New York’s family mountain – in a good way! Mount Peter kicks off its 2018-2019 season this coming Saturday and Sunday. Thanks to newly extended snowmaking capabilities on the mountain, and some cool cooperation from Mother Nature, Mount Peter’s slopes are all good to go for skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing.

During the off-season, Mount Peter was awarded a $165,000 New York State grant, which helped fund the cost of 11 new SMI tower snowguns. The upgraded system has been working around the clock to turn the mountain into a winter wonderland in preparation for the first day of the season.

“The mountain is absolutely beautiful right now! It’s ready for skiing, snowboarding, tubing; all awesome winter activities everyone can enjoy,” said Amy Sampson-Cutler, Executive Manager of Mount Peter. “We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to winter, and we look forward to seeing our Mount Peter friends and families again!”

Mount Peter offers free beginner lessons on every weekend and holiday. Be sure to check out the group rates and midweek deals and tubing party packages at mtpeter.com

Everything at Mount Peter will be in full swing this weekend, including ski and snowboard rentals and Pete’s Closet, the mountain’s retail shop. Pete’s Café and Pete’s Pub, both located in the Base Lodge, will be open, serving food and beverages for all ages. Stop in to warm up with some hot chocolate, have a libation, or just relax between runs, warm up and watch the action from inside.

Anyone planning to join in on the opening weekend fun at Mount Peter is encouraged to check the snow report for all of the latest conditions and trail openings. You can find out “what’s snowing on” by checking the report at www.mtpeter.com, or by calling our snow phone at 845-986-4992 for the most up-to-date report.
