Racing

"I was always looking outside myself for strength and confidence, but it comes from within.
It is there all the time.”" - Anna Freud

Mount Peter is located in Warwick, NY 50 miles from Manhattan and is home to the most reliable, consistent, and aggressive alpine racing & development programs in the area. At Mount Peter we care about our young racers ages 6 - 18 and we strive to help mentally and physically develop each young racer into not only a good skier but a young adult that takes what they’ve learned at our mountain and apply it to their own personal goals and ambitions.

Our Alpine Racing Program has been in existence since the early 1960’'s, so we know ski racing! Mount Peter is home to participants in our programs who have achieved great success such as: State and Regional Championships, NYS High School State Championships, J I, II, III Finals, Junior Olympics, Master Division Championships and we have had podium winners in the NCAA Championships. Mount Peter has also hosted many racing competitions, such as: USSA races, Masters races, State races & High Schools races, just to name a few. The mountain is dedicated to the alpine racing program and will do all that we can do to see success in all of our racers, no matter what their level of ability is!

The philosophy and goals of our coaches and mountain staff is for racers to walk away at the end of the season feeling confident, with an understanding of sportsmanship, and the knowledge that with hard work and determination, they can succeed. Our programs are designed to introduce the young athlete to challenging levels of skiing and competition. Mount Peter’s racing programs are fun, demanding and will give every opportunity for success. Each developing young ski racer will learn and perfect advanced skiing skills that can be applied in all skiing disciplines. With help from our dedicated, professional staff, more on-hill time with free skiing, focused skiing, drills and gate training will help skiers push themselves into being the best ski racer they can be.

All participants in our Alpine Race Programs are supported by the Mount Peter Ski Racing Club. This club is dedicated to supporting youth ski racing at Mount Peter. All race program participants and parents are asked to join & participate in club activities. To visit their website go to www.mtpeter.com and click on Mount Peter Racing Team Website.

All participants of Mount Peter’s Alpine Race Program are required to wear a helmet at all times, be a member of NJSRA and USSA and the Mount Peter Race Club. For USSA you register under the Mount Peter Race Team of NJ club. Most races are in New Jersey for J IV’s and under although some qualify for out of state races at the end of season to places like VT, NH and ME. The JI, II’s and III”s travel throughout the winter but all qualifiers are in NJ. Join the fun at Mount Peter – You’ll be glad you did!
