Learn to Ski and Snowboard

Dear Parents and Friends, September 2011

Hello from Mount Peter! Believe it or not, it is already time to start planning winter activities! Fall is here, and the BEST season is a mere weeks away. If you or your kids are interested in learning or improving on the two greatest winter activities – skiing and snowboarding – our Multi-Week program is a great way to do it.

Our Multi-Week Ski and Snowboard Program, for both beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders, is a fun way to either learn the sports of skiing and snowboarding, or to improve your skills. These sports help to make winter FUN and exciting, and are a great way to get out and meet new people.

This eight-week program begins the first week of January. For kids, it is offered Tuesday through Friday nights, and Saturday and Sunday mornings and afternoons. You choose the day that is best for your child, and come for eight consecutive weeks on that same night or weekend day. The adult program is offered Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings, and Tuesday and Thursday nights. Participants choose which session they would like to attend, and they return for eight consecutive weeks.

Participants pay for just seven weeks, and the eighth week is free, to be used as a make-up for a missed session. Or just as some extra time on the slopes. The program is ala carte, meaning that you only have to sign-up for what you need. We offer lift tickets (which are good from 3 p.m.-closing during the week and 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekends), lessons (which are an hour per session), and rentals. Remember that if you do not have a season pass, you will need to purchase the ticket portion of the program. A season pass/lift ticket is considered an “area ticket,” which you must have in order to be on the snow, regardless of actual chairlift use.

Please note that for weekend participants, there will be NO program during the Martin Luther King holiday weekend, January 14th-16th and the program will be extended for one week.

The deadline to sign up for this program is November 7, 2011. The program fills-up fast, so sign-up today to get the day that you want. There will be a mandatory parent meeting on December 17th at 5 p.m. and the 20th at 7 p.m., please choose one to attend.

For kids that have already been through the program (or already learned the skills on their own), the next step in learning is the Alpine Development Ski or Snowboard Program. This program, designed for those who are skiing or riding intermediate terrain and can use the chairlift by themselves, will take accomplished intermediate skiers or snowboarders to the next level. This program is held on Saturdays from 9 a.m.-noon, is for everyone between the ages of 8 and 17, and also runs for eight consecutive weeks. Please call the mountain for additional information and to register. The early program rates expires November 7th, 2011.
